Vauxhall have been given the blue light to supply vehicles to six UK Police regions.
Next time you find yourself on the wrong side of the law, there's a good chance you'll be taken away in a Vauxhall after the manufacturer was awarded supply contracts for six UK Police regions as a result of the National Policing Improvement Agency initiative. The announcement means Vauxhall now supplies vehicles to 37 of the UK's 52 Police forces through its Vauxhall Motors Special Vehicles division.
In making the announcement, Vauxhall pointed a number of factors in its favour including its close involvement with the Association of Chief Police Officers on vehicle design, its Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty, its carbon efficient ecoFLEX technology, and its Turnkey Vehicle Solution scheme which allows a rapid vehicle replacement for emergency services, all coming at a time when Police budgets are being subjected to government cuts.
Vauxhall Special Vehicles Manager Dick Ellam said, "A key factor in our success is our approach to the supply chain. We are able to make savings for the Police fleets in the time it takes to bring their vehicles into service."
Recent models launched by Vauxhall include a new Combo Van containing a police cell, and a Protected Support Unit based on the Movano.
The announcement means that Vauxhall has now become the largest supplier of low and intermediate Police vehicles in the UK. The new contracts will see in the region of 7,000 vehicles from Vauxhall's Corsa, Astra, Insignia, Astravan, Combo, Vivaro, and Movano ranges supplied to UK Police forces over the next four years.
