TomTom has updated its software to provide all of its LIVE Services customers with access to a set of entirely new features.
With the new software update, drivers using the TomTom LIVE Services will be able to access Expedia and Trip Advisor, share their destination on Twitter and enjoy an additional number of enhanced features.
Among other options, drivers using TomTom Search & Go will be able to use Expedia to pick a hotel and find out about its availability and price information. They will also be able to find the best places to visit using reviews from TripAdvisor. Customers will even be able to send updates of their trip status, such as their destination and arrival time, on Twitter.
Further ways in which motorists can benefit from this device include a route viewer - which gives drivers a bird's eye view of alternative routes - and several improvements made to the Speed Camera service.
In addition, the TomTom Search & Go automatically turns on and off with the car ignition, so drivers don't need to worry about that issue any longer.
Improving their mapping system
On March 6th, TomTom was invited to make a presentation at the Government's first 'Sat Nav Summit'. Mark Gretton, Senior Vice President of TomTom, explained more details about its mapping system:
"We will be detailing how we create our maps - highlighting the unique technology that enables us to work with the community to update our maps on a daily basis, and our truck specific solution for HGV drivers," said Gretton.
"We work with a number of automotive, licensing and consumer electronic customers to provide dynamic, best in class maps. Our commitment remains strong to continually improve our mapping technology, and we look forward to working closely with the UK Government and local authorities," he added.
