After two harsh winters in the UK Suzuki are promoting a winter tyre programme which Suzuki claims offers improved safety and can even save you money.

There is no doubt that winter is the most dangerous time of the year on our roads. Rain, snow, ice, and even just cold temperatures, can all contribute to an increased likelihood of being involved in an accident. So this year Suzuki GB are working hard to promote their winter tyre programme, with a new improved value promotion and a campaign to make sure that UK drivers are fully aware of all the benefits which can be gained from making the switch to specialist winter tyres.

The Aftersales Marketing Manager for Suzuki, Mr Michael-Le Flay, explained the importance of switching from regular summer tyres to special winter tyres, saying:

"Many people are unaware of the fact that when temperatures drop below 7°C, the rubber in standard tyres becomes harder and less flexible, which affects braking and cornering performance.

"It doesn't matter how many electronic aids your car may have, the quality of its tyres is critical. The compound used for winter tyres, and their tread design are tailored to cope with adverse conditions, so that the best levels of car control can be maintained. A survey carried out in Canada concluded that they offer an improvement in braking performance of up to 25 per cent and up to 38 per cent less chance of having a collision."

It is not just safety that can be improved by making the switch either, as they can make good financial sense due to the fact that they get less wear and tear during the colder weather compared to regular summer tyres, and will significantly reduce the chances of salt corrosion to alloy wheels.

For this year's special promotion Suzuki are selling winter tyre and wheel sets for all of its current models. Prices start at £106 each, including VAT, for an Alto 155/65R14 75T. A full set of wheel trims is also available for £33 including VAT.
