Ford’s Special Vehicle Preperations team have extensively modified three of the latest Ford Galaxys for their use in Sussex Police’s Forensic Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Unit.

This is the third generation of Ford Galaxy that has been ordered by the force in 13 years, however the latest batch will be powered by diesel engines to maximise performance and efficieny.

The vehicles boast an impressive specification with room for various equipment including cameras, trolley jacks and toolkits. They can also power various systems with their engines running constantly at a scene for up to eight hours.

Senior Collision Investigator Sergeant Colin O'Neill had this to say: "Visually the new vehicles have a greater presence on the road, which is a plus in terms of public awareness but also for the safety of the officers using them. They are well-appointed, and everyone is very pleased with them in terms of stability and performance.”

The modified vehicles are to be used for five years and are set to cover more than 25,000 miles a year on average.
