Saab will take the biggest new product offensive in the firm’s history to the next level at the Geneva Motor Show when it unveils the eagerly awaited 9-5 SportWagon.
The new SportWagon, which adds an extra level of versatility and practicality to the popular attributes of the current 9-5 saloon, will bring a new and distinctive choice to the premium large estate market.
Sharing much of the saloon's bold AeroX inspired looks, the SportWagon also boasts an extended, falling roof line and steeply raked rear screen flanked on either side by signature Saab 'wraparound' windows. These features combine to give the car a bold body styling with a low stance and dynamic appeal.
Some of the most innovative features of the SportWagon come in the form of smart cargo handling functions, which include under-floor stowage with sealed wet storage compartment, adaptable multi-fold floor, flexible U-rail load space configuration, and the option of an electronic, programmable tailgate.
Under the bonnet the SportWagon is powered by the same all-turbo petrol and diesel engine line up that is currently found on the 9-5 saloon, but with the addition of Saab's industry-leading XWD all-wheel-drive system and other advanced features such as DriveSense adaptive chassis control, adaptive cruise control, keyless operation, Bi-Xenon SmartBeam adaptive lighting, Head-up display projecting information onto the windscreen, and tri-zone air conditioning system.
The first deliveries are due to go out in September, but customers will be able to pre-order a new SportWagon from this spring.
