The Green Apple Environment Awards have named the Jaguar XJ 3.0-litre Diesel as the Golden Winner in the Luxury Green Vehicles category.

Members of the Midlands Groups of Motoring Writers have voted for the Jaguar XJ 3.0-litre Diesel as the top car in the Luxury Green Vehicles category of this year's Green Apple Environment Awards. The award was presented to Jaguar by the group's Chairman, Ian Donaldson.

The Jaguar XJ, which was first launched in 2010, is built using Advanced Aluminium Architecture and, according to Jag, is able to offer fuel economy of 39.2mpg, without sacrificing either luxury or performance. Earlier this month the latest model in the XJ range, the XJ Sport with Speed Pack, got its world debut at the Dubai Motor Show. With the Speed pack fitted, the XJ Sport is the fastest XJ ever built. The entry price for a new Jaguar XJ is £55,515.

The Managing Director of Jaguar UK, Jeremy Hicks, commented on this latest award saying:

"This award recognises the XJ's ability to achieve high levels of economy and efficiency without compromising on luxury and quality. The XJ has and continues to receive awards across the board - we are delighted with its success."
