Fisker is recalling 2400 of its Karma luxury cars after one caught fire in California last week.

This was the second incident in which a Karma has caught fire. In May, a Karma burst into flames in a customer's garage in Sugar Land, Texas, damaging two other cars and a house.

Fisker has identified the cause of the fires and it appears that a faulty low temperature cooling fan is to blame for the incidents.

Last year, Fisker was forced to recall 239 of its Karmas over fears that an improperly-positioned hose clamp could allow coolant to leak into the battery compartment, potentially causing a fire.

A Mercedes 4x4 and an Acura NSX (Honda NSX) were destroyed in the blaze, and the damage to the house alone was estimated at $100,000 (£63,000).
