Caterham has revealed the fastest Seven ever made -- the Superlight R600.

The R600 is fitted with a supercharged 2.0-litre Ford engine which develops 275bhp, making the R600 the first Caterham to feature forced induction technology. The engine also develops 200lb-ft of torque -- 13% more than the current fastest Seven, the Superlight R500.

The power is fed to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox and a Titan limited-slip differential.

The R600 will feature in the Superlight R600 Championship in 2013, and Caterham predicts 16 of the models will compete in the championship, with an estimated 30 cars lining up for the 2014 season.

There's good news for current Caterham owners too, as the existing R300 can be upgraded to R600 spec.

If you don't already own an R300, you can buy the new R600 as a completed car for £44,995.
