Vauxhall have added another model to their list of electric offerings.
Priced from £32,390 on-the-road, the Vauxhall Grandland X Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle is available to order now.
It’s hybrid system produces 225hp thanks to the combination of a 180hp 1.6-litre turbocharged, direct injection four-cylinder petrol engine, and a 110hp electric motor which is powered by a 13.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. Coupled with an electrified eight-speed automatic transmission, the powertrain is capable of delivering up to 192mpg, and emissions as low as 35g/km of CO2. It also has a regenerative braking system to recover the energy produced under braking or deceleration.
Low to medium speed motoring is taken care of by the electric motor, with an all-electric range of up to 34 miles, while three drive modes – Electric, Hybrid, and Sport – allow drivers to tailor the car’s characteristics to specific driving conditions. Hybrid setting allows the car to automatically select its most efficient method, Electric is for zero-emission city centre driving, and Sport combines internal combustion and electric power for a dynamic driving performance. The Grandland X Hybrid can accelerate from 0-60mph in 8.6 seconds, and to a maximum speed of 140mph.
The Grandland X Hybrid comes with a 3.7 kW on-board charger as standard, or with an optional 7.4 kW version. Using the latter with a Mode 3 cable cuts full charging time to under two hours.
The new Grandland X Hybrid is part of Vauxhall’s electrification offensive which will see the Vivaro-e electric light commercial vehicle arrive next year, and all-electric versions of the Combo Life, Combo Cargo, and Vivaro Life to follow in 2021, joining the Corsa-e and Grandland X Hybrid4 that are already on sale.
