At just 20-years-old Manchester-born rally driver Chris Ingram has already racked up an impressive list of achievements, and now the ambitious career plans of one of the UK’s most promising talents have been given a boost by support from Peugeot UK.
The number one ranked rally driver in the under-21 class, Ingram became the first rally driver to be crowned MSA Young Driver of the Year, youngest driver to win the European Rally Championship’s (ERC) Colin McRae Flat Out Trophy for his eye-catching performances, and on his World Rally Championship debut at last year’s Wales Rally GB he won the R2 Class for front-wheel drive cars.
Those achievements have impressed Peugeot Financial Services and Peugeot UK to fund a drive for the remaining FIA ERC Junior Championship behind the wheel of a factory Peugeot Sport 208 R2. Ingram, who at 17 became the youngest driver in history to score points in the British Rally Championship, is currently third in the Junior Championship standings.
An excited Ingram said: "I'm really grateful to Peugeot Sport for the chance to drive the 208 R2. This presents a great opportunity for me to show Peugeot what I'm capable of in the pursuit of my goals to become European Rally Champion. In my opinion the 208 is the most competitive front-wheel-drive ERC car and I look forward to putting it through its paces!"
Ingram will make his Peugeot 208 debut in the European Rally Championship round in Barum, Czech Republic starting on 29 August.
